For those who don't know our dog Humphrey - - he is a large Great Pyranees mix. He is our gentle giant, but would give his life to protect our family. We were told when we adopted him as a puppy that his parent's were not that big. In fact, when he was a puppy, he lost weight because of stomach worms. Now he is healthy and active... and not so-small anymore. However, when we brought him to get weighed at the Vet office he weighed -- 130 lbs. So now according to doctor's orders we have to put 'Hump' on a diet. believe it or not, he instructed us to feed him carrots and celery as dog treats. And plenty of walks. It seems to already be working, because after a month he is down to 124 lbs. There is still plenty of pounds left to shed.
Colt is a growing boy. He loves to eat, but every now and then he will be real selective about what he eats. He currently loves tomatoes and strawberries. Which I guess is better than french fries. On his last visit to the pediatrician, Colt-man weighed 25.4 lbs. He has tripled his birth weight and wears size 6 diapers. He might not like us telling the world, but he has a big booty. (see earlier pool pictures).
As for me - I just want to feel more energetic and get back to my high school weight. Ha...that's not realistic. Actually I will be happy to get down to 170 lbs. and start getting back into running. I would like to keep pace with my son now that he's walking. As of this morning I weighed in at 178 lbs.
I found this great new smart phone app called "Lose it" that easily helps me keep track of all the calories I eat for the day. I wouldn't officially say that I am dieting. I am trying simple tricks to modify my behavior.
Jessica and Dakota, our 5 year old husky, are keeping their weight a secret. A lady never tells.
Check back weekly to see how we are sticking to our goals...
"Nope... that can't be right."
