15 months & we miss dada

Derek and Ralph are on their quest to visit all the baseball stadiums in the USA right now.  It's a mid-west road trip this year.  I know they are having fun but we still miss dada... Colt was 15 months on Tuesday, June 26th.  We had his check-up and he is moving right along :).  I was looking over his blue form for school and counted 22 vaccinations since he was born.  Isn't that crazy!?!?!  He got two shots at the visit and was one brave little boy.  We stretched out several of the vaccinations because at some of his well-baby check-ups, he would have received 6 or more.  Dr. Peters is very pleased with his motor and verbal skills.  He is quite the climber these days.  "More" is one of his favorite words.

Look at me mom.  I'm on my tip toes!

I love my truck.

Once he climbs to the top, he gets so happy and claps... then usually falls!
No worries.  Mommy was ready.

Colt has a fascination with wheels.  He loves to make them go round and round.

We cannot wait for Derek to safely return home.
We love and miss you! ~ Jess

Father's Day 2012

We had a wonderful Father's Day!  The Coltman is a fantastic alarm clock -- 6:00 am every morning.  Derek is such a sweetheart and usually lets me sleep in on Saturday or Sunday.  Well, I tried to return the favor on his special day, but Colt was too excited to see his daddy and made it known -- making as much noise as possible.  Derek got about an extra hour of sleep.  That counts, right?!?!  We started the day off with basketball!!!

Slam Dunk!

The box is super fun too!

Humphrey needed some love :)

Then, came breakfast.  This is one my favorite new recipes.  So easy and simple.  Here is the blog where I have gotten some great recipes.  This particular dish is nice because instead of sausage you can do a veggie delight with mushrooms, bell peppers, spinach... Very yummy!  I halve the recipe and use the rest of the crescent rolls with lunch or dinner.

Smells good!  Even big boys need scooby-snacks ;)

After Colt's morning nap, we were off to The ZOO!!!  We had a great time but it was a little hot.

Mama, look it's Humphrey's cousin.

War Eagle!

Dad, do you see those zebras?

"Bird" -- one of his favorite new words

Derek surprised when Colt said "giraffe"

More birds (parrots) as we were leaving.
Colt loves my sunglasses.  So much more entertaining until they brake...

Colt is learning new words everyday but is still not able to fully express himself.  However, it is very clear from his hugs and kisses that he loves his daddy very much!

Happy Father's Day to the BEST DADDY a boy could ask for!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's a walk down memory lane...

We love you dada, daddy, husband, dc, d-rock, derek. ~ Jess

Weekly Weigh-in

The boys of the Carson household - Humphrey, Colt and I - have been focused on our weight for different reasons.

For those who don't know our dog Humphrey - - he is a large Great Pyranees mix.  He is our gentle giant, but would give his life to protect our family.  We were told when we adopted him as a puppy that his parent's were not that big.  In fact, when he was a puppy, he lost weight because of stomach worms.  Now he is healthy and active... and not so-small anymore.  However, when we brought him to get weighed at the Vet office he weighed -- 130 lbs.  So now according to doctor's orders we have to put 'Hump' on a diet.  believe it or not, he instructed us to feed him carrots and celery as dog treats.  And  plenty of walks. It seems to already be working, because after a month he is down to 124 lbs. There is still plenty of pounds left to shed.

Colt is a growing boy.  He loves to eat, but every now and then he will be real selective about what he eats.  He currently loves tomatoes and strawberries.  Which I guess is better than french fries.  On his last visit to the pediatrician, Colt-man weighed 25.4 lbs. He has tripled his birth weight and wears size 6 diapers.  He might not like us telling the world, but he has a big booty. (see earlier pool pictures).

As for me - I just want to feel more energetic and get back to my high school weight.  Ha...that's not realistic.  Actually I will be happy to get down to 170 lbs. and start getting back into running.  I would like to keep pace with my son now that he's walking.  As of this morning I weighed in at 178 lbs.

I found this great new smart phone app called "Lose it" that easily helps me keep track of all the calories I eat for the day.  I wouldn't officially say that I am dieting.  I am trying simple tricks to modify my behavior.

Jessica and Dakota, our 5 year old husky, are keeping their weight a secret.  A lady never tells.

Check back weekly to see how we are sticking to our goals...

"Nope... that can't be right."

How to follow our blog by email

Because some friends and family members would like an update notification through email... I have listed the steps to follow at the bottom of the page.  Please let us know if you have any questions.  Enjoy and look forward to more posts soon!

Stab and Release

Its obvious that Colt loves food.  Even with a fever and a 103 temperature.

2 new things happened yesterday. He learned the "man's way" of using a fork... and he said the word 'apple juice'. Don't ask how he jumped from one syllable words to 'apple juice'. But he does love using a sippy-cup.

Life's a Beach

Carson Rule #1: No matter where you go on vacation, or how long you stay, or which vehicle you take... you will always fill the car to capacity if you have children.

We decided to take full advantage of Memorial Day weekend and CeCe and Woof-Daddy's home at the beach.  Uncle Ty-rone joined us on our mini-vacation.  If you have children then you understand that everything is planned based on their eating and sleep schedule.... including this vacation.

The weather was great! The forecast for the trip was 'sun' with a chance of more 'sun'. We saw a lot of family while we were there. We went to the one year anniversary of cousins Tammy and Colleen. Colt-man got to spend some quality time with Great-Gramps, Danielle, Uncle Rusty, and Cousin David at the party. We also had lunch at Colt's Granny and PaPa's house in Fairhope, AL.  In between visits we took naps, ate, and played in the water. Uncle Ty-rone caught up on some sleep and ate fried chicken.

At Uncle Rusty's house by the bay.  Colt is smiling on the inside.

Blue eyes just like Gramps

Watching the boats cruise by.  He also learned  to say the word "boat".

Now I understand my parent's when they say, "you look like you are up to no good"

Hanging out with Uncle Ty-rone on his bed and couch

Blessed to have so much love
